Onion Rings

Thought to be invented in Texas in the 1920s, you can find this mouthwatering side on almost any menu. Featuring Chef's Own™ Pre-Dust, Chef's Own™ Tempura Batter and Chef's Own™ Fine Panko Breadcrumbs. These deep-fried onions; seasoned with parmesan cheese, rosemary, thyme and a dash of nutmeg are truly mouthwatering. 

What You'll Need

Amount Ingredients
2 kg Onion, big white 
300 g Parmesan cheese
10 g Rosemary, chopped 
13 g Thyme, chopped 
8 g Salt
4 g Black pepper
2 g Nutmeg
100 g Chef's Own™ Pre-Dust
300 g Chef's Own™ Tempura Batter
600 ml Cold water
100 g Chef's Own™ Fine Panko Breadcrumbs


Preparation Step 1 - Onion Rings
1. PREPARE THE ONION> Peel the onion while keeping them whole. Slice into 1 cm thick slices diagonally and separate into individual rings. Season with salt, pepper and nutmeg.

2. Dust the onions with the Chef's Own™ Pre-Dust (Step 1)
Preparation Step 3 - Onion Rings
3. Dissolve Chef's Own™ Tempura Batter in cold water. Allow batter to rest for 10 minutes and dip the onion rings into the batter one by one. (Step 2).
Preparation Step 4 - Onion Rings
4. Mix grated cheese and herbs with the Chef's Own™ Fine Panko Breadcrumbs. Coat the battered onion rings in this mix. (Step 3)
Preparation Step 5 - Onion Rings
5. Deep fry the onion rings at 175°C for 3-4 minutes.
