Crispy Green Asparagus Tempura

A great way to eat your vegetables is to make them crispy and delicious, like this recipe. Featuring Chef's Own Pre-Dust and Chef's Own Tempura Batter. Asparagus dipped in a crispy tempura batter, with a little sumac to spice it up, will have even the picky eaters cleaning their plates.

What You'll Need

Amount Ingredients
1 kg Green Asparagus
10 g Salt
5 g Sugar
75 g Sumac spice
50 g Chef's Own™ Pre-Dust
200 g Chef's Own™ Tempura Batter
400 g Cold water


Step 1 - Asparagus
1. Wash and peel the asparagus. Cut off the ends. Season the asparagus with salt & sugar.

2. Dust the seasoned asparagus with Chef's Own™ Pre-Dust (Step 1)
Step 3 - Asparagus
3. Dissolve Chef's Own™ Tempura Batter in cold water and season with Sumac spice.
Step 4 - Asparagus
4. Remove the excess batter while placing them a few at a time into the fryer so that they don't stick. (Step 3)
Step 5 - Asparagus
5. Fry them for 4-5 minutes at 170°C. Sprinkle a little Chef's Own™ Tempura Batter with a spoon over the asparagus while frying. This way you get nice crispy edges.
