Onion Bhaji

Bhaji is a spicy snack or side dish similar to a fritter originating in India, with several variants. Featuring Chef's Own Pre-Dust and Chef's Own™ Tempura Batter. Seasoned with marsala, ginger and garlic, these deep-fried bhaji are packed with flavour. 

What You'll Need

Amount Ingredients
300 g Red onion
10 g Indian marsala 
5 g Finely chopped ginger and garlic
100 g Chef's Own™ Pre-Dust
100 g Chef's Own™ Tempura Batter
150 ml Cold water
100 g Gram flour


Preparation Step 1 - Onion Bhaji
1. Peel & finely slice the onion.

2. Dust the onion slices with Chef's Own™ Pre-Dust (Step 1)
Preparation Step 3 - Onion Bhaji
3. Dissolve the gram flour and the Chef's Own™ Tempura Batter in cold water. Allow batter to rest for 10 minutes. Add the indian marsala & the chopped ginger & garlic to the batter and dip the finely sliced onion into the batter (Step 2).
Preparation Step 4 - Onion Bhaji
4. Spoon mixture into oil and fry at 175°C for 3 minutes until golden brown. Drain well and serve hot. (Step 3)
