Tunisian Shakshuka

Eggs cooked in a tomato paprika sauce made from Custom Culinary® Gold Label Chunky Tomato Sauce and rightly seasoned with Custom Culinary® Chef’s Own Shawarma Flavor Marinade.

25 ml Cooking Oil
75 g White Onions, sliced
100 g Red Bell peppers, Sliced
15 g Custom Culinary® Chef’s OwnTM Shawarma Flavor Marinade.
400 g Custom Culinary® Gold Label Chunky Tomato Sauce
4 pcs Medium Eggs  
5 g Green parsley, finely chopped

Preparation

  1. Heat a cast iron skillet with oil.
  2. Add the sliced onions and red bell peppers and sauté for 5 minutes in medium heat.
  3. Once they are soft, add the Custom Culinary® Chef’s OwnTM Shawarma Flavor Marinade., mix well.  
  4. Add Custom Culinary® Gold Label Chunky Tomato Sauce, mix well and cook in medium heat for approximately 10 minutes while stirring the mix from time to time.
  5. Using a spoon, make 6 indentations, or “wells,” in the tomato mixture, make sure the indentations are spaced out. Gently crack an egg into each indention.
  6. Reduce the heat, cover the skillet, and cook on low until the egg whites are set.
  7. Uncover and add the fresh parsley and serve with warm pita bread.
